Riverby Estate Sali's Block Riesling 2009 |
Fermentation, which took place in stainless steel, was stopped part way through to retain a seductive portion of the natural sugars.
Pale straw-lemon in colour, this medium style riesling has lovely fragrant aromas with honeysuckle florals, lemon, lime citrus hints and traces of white peach and nectarine. On the palate it is refreshing and delicate with a subtle mineral background, crisp acidity, spicy stonefruit and fleshy apple characters, alongside classical riesling citrus characters of lemon and lime. It has a hauntingly beautiful lingering finish, clean and crisp, with tingling acidity, citrus and a clover honey top note. It is distinguished by an impeccable balance between sweetness and acidity.
Reviews
"Full of juicy citrus, pineapple and red apple fruit, the medium sweetness is balanced by bright crisp acidity."
Gold Medal, NZ International Wine Show, 2008
"Medium style with rich, ripe, citrusy flavours and a hint of honeysuckle, balanced for easy drinking. Lush, well-rounded wine with a moderate level of residual sweetness and good length."
Michael Cooper, Winestate, March 2009
